About the Voluntary Organisation:

ACT

ACT’s approach to fulfilling its environmental objectives is rooted in tangible action and community involvement. We conduct various projects, capacity-building exchanges, and policy consultations to influence both public understanding and legislative support for environmental causes. ACT’s work includes: Propagation and Conservation: Our nursery, based in Wardija, has propagated over 50 species of native trees, shrubs, flowers, succulents, and other plants. With more than 9,000 flora species, our stock is ready to assist landowners and public bodies in land rehabilitation efforts. Seed Sourcing and Preservation: ACT actively sources seeds and cuttings from Malta’s native flora, especially those at risk of extinction, to conserve genetic diversity. Policy Advocacy and Collaboration: ACT contributes actively to policy discussions and consultations, sharing insights and advocating for policies that support environmental preservation. Community Engagement and Education: Through partnerships and exchanges, both locally and internationally, ACT fosters a spirit of environmental responsibility and resilience, bringing together like-minded individuals and groups to drive collective ecological impact. Our nursery is a prime example of our action-oriented approach, offering a hands-on platform for conservation work that has allowed MCAST students and other volunteers to engage with Malta’s unique environment.
