Newspaper Folding Volunteer

Azzjoni Kattolika Maltija (Malta Catholic Action) is an organisation of lay people of different ages and backgrounds who form part of groups in different localities around Malta. AKM focuses on offering a holistic formation that accompanies people through different ages and stages of life while encouraging them to be active citizens of their localities, their country and the world. Currently it has around 1000 members, divided in various branches and groups. Moreover, several thousand people benefit from AKMs services and initiatives on a casual or occasional basis. It has around 80 groups in 40 localities around Malta and Gozo involving mostly volunteers who dedicate their time for other people not only members of the organisation but also society in general through their active presence in the parishes and local communities. It also issues a weekly newspaper Il-Leħen. This is the oldest surviving weekly newspaper in Malta which contributes greatly to the diversification of printed newspaper media in Malta. Through its articles and opinion pieces it offers an insight into various current news both locally and internationally and helps readers to deepen their thoughts on what is happening around us and our call to build a more just society.
