About the Voluntary Organisation:
The Don Bosco Oratory of Gozo (Malta)
The Don Bosco Oratory of Gozo (Malta) was founded on 1st April 1934. Since then thousands of children and youths from all over Gozo (and Malta) have passed through this institution. Situated in the centre of an island of 30,000 persons, the Don Bosco Oratory of Gozo presently welcomes regularly for daily or weekly meetings and activities over 300 young persons aged between 13 and 25 years. The Bishop of Gozo appoints the Director, normally a diocesan priest, who in turn is helped by a group of dedicated volunteers in its day-to-day running, its planning and its maintenance. The Oratory aims at the holistic formation of youths through its meetings and activities. Youths are also introduced to volunteering through the running of activities in the institution itself, as well as through the organisation of volunteer work with other NGO’s and charitable organisations. The Oratory incorporates various sections such as the chapel, formation groups, theatre, cinema, football & sports, summer-club, dance-studios, etc. All these sections aim to promote sound values in the young generation, including justice, solidarity, charity, respect, responsibility and true friendship, building thus a christian character as a means of preparing youths to offer their best service to today’s and tomorrow’s society.
