About the Voluntary Organisation:

Emergency Fire & Rescue Unit (EFRU)

EFRU specializes in rescue, assisting the Civil Protection Department (CPD) in national emergencies, on duty in regular fire station shifts or as needed in fire fighting, rope rescue, urban search and rescue and first response, as well as first aid and fire safety during mass events. The Unit’s mission is to maintain a team of volunteers, trained and equipped to a professional level on par with their full-time CPD counterparts. Additionally, the Unit seeks to provide its services to society in general through its Community Assistance Programme, aiding other charitable organisations in their events, as well as educating the public in safety. As part of its efforts to sustain its operations, EFRU also provides its services to companies and conducts fund raising events, the most notable of which is its annual cycling tour organised in Sicily.
