Facilities & Maintenance Assistant

Typical responsibilities:

– Carry out small maintenance and repair jobs (basic carpentry, painting, fixing minor issues).

– Assist with setting up and dismantling staging, seating, or equipment for performances.

– Support with moving props, furniture, and supplies around the venue.

– Help maintain cleanliness and order in backstage, storage, and front-of-house areas.

– Check and report any facility issues (lighting, plumbing, safety concerns) to theatre management.

– Support with deliveries, storage organization, and stock control (tools, cleaning materials, supplies).

– Assist technical crew with lifting, carrying, and setting up equipment where needed.

– Be available during events to troubleshoot any practical or facility-related issues.

Desirable skills:

– Practical skills in basic maintenance, repairs, and handy work.
– Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment safely.
– Problem-solving mindset and willingness to “pitch in” as needed.
– Good teamwork and communication skills.
– Reliability and flexibility with tasks and schedules.
– Health & safety awareness.

Teatru Salesjan is a community theatre located in Sliema, Malta. It’s part of the Salesian community, which is a Roman Catholic religious order founded by Saint John Bosco. The theatre is not only a space for performing arts but also a hub for cultural and community events. Given its connection to the Salesian order, it often promotes values of education, youth development, and community engagement.
