Lighting Technician

Typical responsibilities:
| – Assist with planning and setting up lighting for productions (rigging, focusing, and programming lights).
– Operate lighting consoles during rehearsals and live performances. – Working under the theatre’s exclusive AV supplier to achieve the desired lighting design. – Conduct lighting checks before each show to ensure equipment is working properly. – Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly during rehearsals or performances. – Maintain, clean, and safely store lighting equipment after use. – Assist in updating or improving the theatre’s lighting systems as needed. – Support safe working practices when working at height or with electrical equipment. |
Desirable skills:
– Basic knowledge of stage lighting and equipment (rigs, dimmers, lighting consoles).
– Attention to detail and an eye for visual presentation.
– Ability to follow cues and instructions precisely during live shows.
– Technical problem-solving skills.
– Teamwork and good communication with the production team.
– Reliability and punctuality.
Optional however very useful: prior experience with lighting design and knowledge of DMX control systems.
