Community Star Label Guidelines
Recognising Business Commitment to Community Impact through ProACT
The Community Star Label is an official recognition by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS) awarded to businesses that actively support Malta’s voluntary sector through employee engagement in ProACT.
This label celebrates companies that foster a culture of social responsibility, employee volunteering, and community partnership.
A. Three Recognition Tiers
1. Bronze Star
Entry-level recognition for companies taking their first steps into corporate volunteering.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Participation in at least 1 ProACT volunteering activity within a 12-month period.
- Minimum 3 employee volunteers involved.
- Completion of post-activity feedback.
Benefits:
- Digital Community Star Bronze badge
- Recognition on volunteers.mt and MCVS social media
- Certificate of participation signed by MCVS
2. Silver Star
Mid-tier recognition for businesses showing sustained commitment to volunteering.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Participation in at least 3 ProACT activities in 12 months
- Minimum 10 cumulative employee volunteer days
- Support for at least 2 different voluntary organisations
- Demonstrated internal promotion of volunteering (e.g., CSR communications, staff engagement)
3. Gold Star
Top-tier recognition for businesses with a strategic and consistent social impact approach.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Participation in 5+ activities or projects in a 12-month period
- Minimum 25 employee volunteer days
- Engagement in project-based or skills-based volunteering
- Internal integration of volunteering into CSR or HR policies
- Positive feedback from at least 2 partner voluntary organisations
Benefits:
- Gold Community Star plaque for display
- Recognition in annual MCVS awards or events
- Featured success story published on volunteers.mt, maltacvs.org and press releases
B. How to Apply
Participation data is collected through ProACT coordination. Companies will be contacted annually to confirm achievements and submit any additional documentation (e.g. testimonials, media coverage, staff feedback).
C. Review Cycle
- Recognition is valid for 12 months
- Companies can renew or progress to a higher tier by meeting updated criteria
